Connect Inmate is now available on android

This year Cherry Fresh Designs was able work on multiple projects and rebuilding our brand. One of the project that stands out is our work with Connect Inmate. In addition to working on graphic needs for marketing the app we provided the apps wireframes, UI/UX design and user flow. We worked with Simple Web Setup, Carmena Ayo-Davies and co-owner of My Hair Closet & PNK Elephant, Blair Sandlain to complete the app. It was Sandlain’s godfather doing a 20 year bid that served as inspiration to create Connect Inmate. Users can download the free app, type a letter like it was a text message, upload an optional image and press send. This letter is then printed from the Connect Inmate headquarters and mailed to the inmate they choose located at any state or federal correctional facility. App users don’t have to worry about running to store for paper, stamps and envelopes as for a small fee Connect Inmate does it all for you.

Although the app is only a little over a two months old,  Blair and Carmena already have plans to expand the features to include the ability to put money directly onto an inmate’s books. Sandlain says that she is  looking to connect with some of the prisons in the hopes of getting a more direct line of communication.

There is little doubt that the app comes with a ready-made market. It is estimated that 2.4 million people are serving time in federal, state and local prisons across the country. Going to prisons for a visit isn’t always an option for many of the inmate’s loved ones, particularly those with incarcerated loved ones serving time out of state. Likewise, telephone calls from an inmate are very expensive, costing as much as 400 percent more than an average call per minute. Through the Connect Inmate app, letters can be sent for $1.50 a piece; a picture for just $.50.

With Android usage reaching over one billion dollars this year this allows connect inmate to reach more users and connect more families to love ones and friends.
