Team Against All Odds is a high-level AAU program in PG County, MD. They focus on developing and preparing young men for life through the game of Basketball. Against All Odds aims to succeed in a competitive AAU Basketball space. Originally named Team Dream Chasers, the grassroots organization believed they needed a name that fit their mission. To build an effective and efficient brand message, we had to start from scratch in one of the country’s most popular hubs for Youth Basketball, the DMV.  (DC, Maryland, and Virginia)

Challenge

The AAU basketball space is crowded with teams, each vying for attention. Creating a unique and recognizable brand that stands out from competitors while staying true to the team’s values and mission was crucial. The brand needed to resonate with both the players and the broader community.

While the team needed a fresh, modern look, it was important to honor the traditions and values that have long been associated with grassroots basketball. Striking this balance was essential to maintaining authenticity while engaging a new generation of players and fans.

The brand had to be consistent across multiple platforms, from digital media to physical apparel. Ensuring that the brand identity remained strong and recognizable, whether on a website, social media, or a team jersey, was a key challenge.

Our Approach

To address these challenges, we took a comprehensive approach:

  • We blended classic design elements, such as traditional basketball motifs, with contemporary typography and layouts. This approach ensured the brand felt timeless and current, appealing to long-time supporters and new fans.
  • We developed a comprehensive brand guideline that detailed the use of logos, colors, fonts, and other design elements across different mediums. This ensured that every piece of content, from social media posts to merchandise, aligned with the brand’s identity.
  • We focused on creating sleek, modern designs that incorporated the team’s branding in a bold but not overpowering way. We also worked closely with manufacturers to ensure that the apparel was made from high-quality, performance-oriented materials.

Solution

The branding, graphic design, and apparel we developed for Against All Odds Grass Roots Basketball successfully captured the team’s spirit and mission. The new brand identity set the team apart in the competitive AAU space, while the stylish and functional apparel became a source of pride for the players. This cohesive brand presence elevated the team’s image and strengthened the community around it, helping to attract new talent and supporters. The new branding is now on par with College and NBA logos

Against All Odds, Grass Roots Basketball now stands as a distinctive and inspiring brand, fully aligned with its vision of overcoming challenges and achieving greatness on and off the court.

Results

Working with Cherry Fresh Designs to create our logo was a game-changer. The design captured our brand's essence perfectly, and since its launch, we've seen a significant boost in our visibility and credibility. We've added three new D1 players to our roster and secured top placements in two major tournaments. The logo has become a recognizable symbol of our success."
